Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of breed and number of lactation over the productive performance and the nutritional composition of the goat milk. 597 daily milk records of 18 goats, nine goats Saanen and nine goats Brown Alpine was analyzed. The goats was managed in tabulated system under tropical conditions. Productive performance was statistically significant (p<0.05) to breed and number of lactances, showing that both breed had more productive performance (kg/240 days) in the third lactance with 483.98 ± 8.90 for Saanen goats and 455.97 ± 32.37 for Brown Alpine goats. Lactations curves was fitted optimally with Wood model with R2 ? 0.87. Breed influenced significally over nutritional composition of milk, showing values (%) of 3.56 ± 0.24 protein, 4.07 ± 0.41 fat, 12.30 ± 1.66 total solids, 9.03 ± 0.20 non-fatty solids and 4.49 ± 0.23 lactose. It was concluded that breed and number of lactation influenced over productive performance of Saanen and Brown Alpine goats in tabulate system and goats in the first, second and third lactance of both breeds showed good performance, specifically the goats in third lactance. Farmers could utilize strategically Saanen goats to increase the milk yield and Brown Alpine goats in order to improve the nutritional quality of milk.
