One way to check an experiment before and after a related sample is specifically the statistical test of averages, which allows to demonstrate if the application of the experiment was positive or negative. The objective of this investigation is to demonstrate by means of the test of averages that the application of the experiment (preventive maintenance) increased the performance of the machines of the production system. The research approach was quantitative by taking data before and after the application of the experiment to the 30 machines, which is considered a longitudinal test by obtaining data from two tests. The method used is data analysis through the means test. It began with the normality test to determine if the sample behaves according to the normal distribution, the behavior of these data was carried out using the Shapiro - Wilk test, since it is a sample of 30 data, when obtaining this sample behavior, the mean test for related sample data. The instrument used to obtain the statistical results was the SPSS program. The result of the application of the preventive maintenance method showed that there was an increase of more than 15% in production in each machine, which can be verified by means of the statistical test of averages for related samples. In conclusion, it can be mentioned that the statistical analysis through the average test justifies the behavior of the application of an experiment when analyzing the data before the application of the experiment and after the application.
